About Griffin Instruments

Building open, reproducible tools for behavioral neuroscience.

Mission

Griffin Instruments develops open-source hardware and software for behavioral neuroscience research. Our goal is to lower the barrier to high-quality operant conditioning experiments — making professional-grade chambers accessible to any lab, anywhere, regardless of budget.

All designs are released under the MIT License. We believe that open science begins with open tools.

The Open Operant Project

Open Operant is our flagship project: a complete, peer-reviewed operant chamber system built from commodity electronics and standard lab components. Full build guides, firmware, and experiment templates are available on GitHub.
